Also, magic in Harry Potter can be used with far greater versatility than in LotR, inventing a spell (if there isn't one already) that reveals the presence of other creatures than humans wouldn't be rocket science. People seem to think that just because Frodo has the Ring he's friggin' unbeatable, and that just isn't any more true than claiming that Spiderman is unbeatable because he has a spider sense.
